a little bit about us

"We are a family from Newcastle under Lyme in Staffordshire with three children between us. Both of us are working and study at home for new careers and for a more fruitful livelihood. We both love the outdoors and enjoy going camping with the children and Maxi (our dog) whenever we can, as this allows us to spend quality time together in our busy lives."

Michelle presently works for a mobile communications company as a customer service support advisor and has worked there for nearly six years. She also has worked for a number of years as a care assistant prior to this role. Unfortunately, due to a recent downturn in the economic climate, her current employment is due to cease later this year. As a result of this situation, Michelle is now studying at home and is working towards gaining a degree in psychology. Combined with her previous background as a care assistant, Michelle is looking for a career that involves working with vulnerable children. Michelle has a son, Dylan who is 10. An interest in gardening came about for Michelle quite recently. She loves the idea of growing her own food and has developed a strong keenness to learn the methods of reaping that perfect crop.

Brian currently works at a small pottery firm that is basically the remnant of a once huge ceramic industry that dominated Stoke on Trent. Due to the rapid decline of the industry over recent years and it's future prospect looking somewhat insecure, Brian is studying towards gaining Microsoft certification and is looking to begin a new career path within the IT industry. Brian has two children. Katie who is 9 and Joel who is 2.
His interest in gardening came about a few years ago upon deciding to brighten up his garden. He bought seed trays, compost and some pansy and nasturtium seeds, which he grew in his window sill. Then as years followed, he tried more and more things to grow and got a small greenhouse.

Both Michelle and Brian are relative new-comers to growing fruit and vegetables and have a lot to learn, but the combination of researching tips from experienced growers and their own trial and error will hopefully prove successful over the coming years.
